To Members of the SCCA,

As the newly elected president of our association it is with profound gratitude and humility that I begin the work of the SCCA. I am delighted with the highly capable and experienced group of executives and directors that have been assembled for the 2021-2022 years.

We have collectively been through a global crisis which has inevitably impacted everyone in some way or the other. While the situation in other parts of the world is still grim and challenging, the local conditions have been improving steadily.

We will continue to monitor the situation and work with the city and parks department to get a concrete timeline of when we can safely resume cricket at Woodley and other facilities across Southern California.

There are many pending and long due tasks, including getting the pitches and outfields ready for the season. Work also is needed on improving practice/nets conditions and upgrading the existing scoreboards. We will work on all these issues after duly prioritizing and diligently reviewing the budget. Once the state and county guidelines have been formally communicated to us, we will be in a better position to announce a firm date on the opening of our 2021 campaign.

Our secretary, Kenny Thomas, will be sending out the letter of intent to all clubs shortly seeking confirmation on the team’s participation for this year.

Finally, I encourage all members to comply with the waivers in a timely manner, by signing on the digital platform sent via email. This will expedite the approval and acquisition of the permits from the city and parks.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

Regards,

Pradeep Patel – SCCA President
